Indios Bravos: Bea Valdes... to clutchbags

Educated and trained in Manila and London, Bea Valdes has captured the globe at large as her designs have been hailed by both the top international press and bought by selective buyers worldwide… Her brand is present in every Paris Fashion Week though it doesn't really need to be there anymore as they have constant orders from regular buyers worldwide.
Coming from a family which has been in the fine jewelry trade for 3 generations, Bea was fascinated with embellishments from a very young age. She started specialising on interiors-creating beautiful accessories as a hobby after her studies in creative writing & industrial design in Manila, then interior design in London.
Discerning women seeking distinct luxury quickly caught her works and was immediately hailed by US Vogue as ‘must haves’ only within 6 months of launching her first international collection.
She continues to take inspiration from various cultures and countries, sourcing materials and patterns from around the world. Bea Valdes first established her Manila-based workshop in 2004 with the vision to design pieces that would ultimately be regarded as “Art to Wear” and not just pieces of merchandise.

Her collection features crystal and semi-precious stone encrusted bags, embroidered glass drop necklaces, distinctive neck pieces , vests, and sash belts swathed in beads, all proudly handmade in the Philippines. Her work continues to receive international recognition and is a regular feature in prominent fashion and news magazines such as VOGUE, W Magazine, Newsweek and TIME magazine. She is the first ever Filipino accessories designer to grace the cover of British Vogue’s September issue with a necklace worn by Kate Moss.
In 2010 she was the recipient of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award (TOYM) given by the President of the Philippines in recognition of her international success. Today, she shines a light on the Philippines as a design hub specific to the high-end accessories trade and continues to receive global recognition as a forward thinking, creative architect of uniquely distinctive luxury accessories.

Indios Bravos: Japser Garvida

A rising talent from Asia to America to us, Jasper Garvida born in the Philippines grew up in Canada before graduating from London's Central Saint Martin's.
The 2004 collection he created for his graduation show was bought out by Nicola Formachetti, Editor of Dazed and Confused, and was sold at Jingumae in Tokyo. Jasper was then appointed as Head Designer for couture Label of Michiko Koshino.
In the still current spirit of achieving instant international fame to these new wave of reality shows and competitions, he joined and won the British TV program Project Catwalk. He established his eponymous fashion label on that same year, 2008.
Known today for its bold, highly embellished womenswear, Jasper has swiftly established his reputation as a unique luxury designer to be contended with.
Here's to you Jasper, Carry on.
